National Life Group accepting submissions for high school musician competition Beats for Good to open for Fitz and the Tantrums at Do Good Fest and support music programs
Montpelier, VT - (March 25, 2024) National Life Group is accepting submissions until April 28 from high school-aged musicians to compete in Beats for Good for a chance to perform at its annual benefit concert, the National Life Group Do Good Fest®, and earn money for high school music programs.
Beats for Good is open to any current Vermont high school student and their classmates. This contest is open to musical acts of all sizes and genres, acoustic or electric. The grand prize winner will open Do Good Fest, have the opportunity to meet the local and national musicians, and receive a $5,000 donation to their school’s music program as well as a $1,000 personal cash prize. First and second runners-up will receive $2500 and $1000 respectively for their school’s music program.
The National Life Group Do Good Fest presents multi-platinum artists Fitz and the Tantrums, Emmy Award-winning Rachel Platten along with California alternative rock mainstays, Dishwalla, and emerging New England favorite, Couch, on the company’s back lawn on Saturday, July 13.
In its 10th anniversary and born out of the company’s “Do good, Be good and Make good” values, Do Good Fest has brought national acts to the back lawn of its Montpelier campus every year since 2014 (except two pandemic years) raising over $415,000 in support of issues and efforts that matter most to its communities.
All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Branches of Hope, the cancer patient fund at Central Vermont Medical Center’s National Life Cancer Treatment Center and Howard Center, providing mental health, substance use treatment, and developmental services with many programs specific to children and youth in family, residential, educational, and community settings.
Beats for Good entries should include a link to a performance no longer than five minutes. Once the submission period closes on April 28, a panel of local music professionals and educators will review the submissions and choose their favorites. The act that receives the most votes will open Do Good Fest and win a $5,000 cash prize for their school’s music program as well as a $1,000 personal cash prize. In addition to the music, Do Good Fest will also have food trucks, a beer garden, an exclusive VIP lounge, and a Nonprofit Village where festival attendees can learn about local causes and how they contribute to the vitality of the community. The event will be capped with the Fest’s famous fireworks display.
